Why can't I save or print my result file?
There probably are one or more differences that have not been resolved. Use the Next Unresolved Diff and Previous Unresolved Diff buttons to find these and then resolve them. When all are resolved, you should be able to save and print the result. If you still cannot, contactsupport at mailto:support@prescient.com.
Why aren't any recommendations showing?
Recommendations can only be offered when you specify an Ancestor file. If you did specify an ancestor file and there are no recommendations it is because all the diffs are conflicts -- that is, both sides have been changed -- and MergeRight can't make a recommendation.
Why didn't MergeRight change my (left/right)
file selections when I clicked the Select Right / Select Left menu item or buttons?
Merge Right's Select Left, Select Right, and Select Recommendations menu items and buttons are designed to resolve many differences with a single click. This is most often useful when it only applies to unresolved differences -- because that allows you to selectively resolve just a few differences and then automatically resolve all the rest, but without that mass resolution undoing your original selections. If you want to make sure that all diffs will be resolved one way, click the Unselect all menu item first and then your preferred Select menu item.
Why can't I get out of Personal Edition (demo)
mode?
Your License may have expired or was not correctly initialized. For a new key, contact sales@prescient.com.
Why doesn't MergeRight respond when I press this
button, or click this menu item?
Some buttons and menu items are only valid some of the time. For instance, you can't go to the "Previous diff" if you are at the beginning of the file, and you can't save or print a result file if there are unresolved diffs that prevent a result file from being generated. When this happens, the button or Menu item is grayed and disabled and does not respond to clicks. If the item is not disabled and still won't respond, report a bug by emailing to mailto:support@prescient.com.
MergeRight isn't responding.
MergeRight displays a fatal error message.
MergeRight terminates unexpectedly.
These situations should not happen with MergeRight and indicate that a serious error has occurred. There may be a problem with MergeRight itself, or with your computer's Operating System. Such Operating System problems may include running out of real or virtual memory or too much processing power being used by other processes on your computer.
To rule out transitory Operating System processes and memory problems, you may want to reboot your computer and, before starting other applications, immediately try to resume your Merge by using the MRG file or redo it from the original files.
If you still can't get MergeRight to operate properly, report a bug by emailing to mailto:support@prescient.com.
Please include information concerning the symptoms of the problems you experienced, and retain a copy of the Ancestor files, Branch files and MRG Files as they existed at the time of the failure. Also tell us about the system you were running the program on, including the version of the Operating System, the CPU model, the amount of RAM and Virtual memory, and the amount of free disk space, and the sizes of the Ancestor and Branch files. Lastly, if possible, check the About box and tell us which version of MergeRight you are using.
